Mission

Transforming our community by preparing youth to succeed in life.

Established in 2012, the Newark Mentoring Movement’s vision is to expand mentorship to reach 10,000 youths annually in Newark by 2017.  In order to achieve our goal, we will make mentorship an enviable experience with shared benefits and accountability for mentors and mentees.

The Newark Mentoring Movement itself is not a mentoring program.  Instead, it is a matchmaker, connecting individuals, organizations, and communities to existing mentoring programs to the young people they serve.

Through working with our local mentoring partners, we will demonstrate impact in the community by creating a sustainable mentorship model for future success, and embed a culture of mentorship in Newark. We hope to become an inspiration and multiplier for mentorship in other communities.

By promoting Best Practices and strong, long-term mentoring relationships, the Newark Mentoring Movement strives to have an exponential impact on Newark’s youth.
